Movie Review: Talk to me

It was just by chance that I went for this movie.

Synopsis and Trailer can be found here.

Spoilers ahead!

It was the second last day of Jcube shopping mall operation and decided to catch just one last movie before they closed for good. Saw positive reviews about Talk To Me and being a supernatural theme movie fan, I went with this movie.

If one is looking for a scare, then this might not be what you are looking for. The parts which scared me would be the first time when Mia first got in contact with the spirits and when Riley was being hurt by the spirits during his contact with the spirits.

While the supernatural is the basis of the movie, the script worked around people's relationships and trust.

The movie was quite straightforward to show how bad Mia's relationship with the people around her except for Jade and her little brother Riley. Jade's friends to Jade's mother clearly have trust issues with Mia.

The spirits' lies resulted in Mia ultimately in the very same predicament that happened to the guy at the beginning of the movie.
It seemed pretty well connected throughout the movie especially where the ending showed how the conjuring of spirit worked with the hand using Mia's spirit as the point of view.

At the end

There were some questions left unanswered though, such as where did the hand originated from, how did the guys knew the process to conjuring the spirits, why did Mia broke up with Jade's boyfriend, was it really good enough to just discard the hand and let time mend the situation or was the hand looking for a replacement/candidate to fill in more spirits.

Nice script and great acting by the entire cast. I only recognized one familiar face, Miranda Otto who portrayed Jade's mother.

The Witch: Part 2 - The Other One (2022) - Review

I was so so so excited that it is finally here in theater. But at the end, I was left... hm... I should have read the synopsis before I step into the theater.

Spoilers ahead! Don't not read on if you decided to go for the movie!

Because after a long~~~~anticipation, I realized I won't be seeing Goo Ja-yoon (Kim Da Mi) because this is about "The Other One". But okay.. she did appear, but only at the end of the movie.

The movie action is almost non-stop and it seemed like 'Girl' (Shin Si-ah) was the ultimate version of Goo Ja-yoon

Girl is the complete opposite of Goo Ja-yoon's brought up and so everything was new to her. The movie felt like another version of Goo Ja-yoon, with more action and more details such as the various groups that are interlinked with the scientists etc.

Hope it won't be a long wait to the next sequel.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City Review

I was so looking forward to the movie...

Another Resident Evil movie! Since I have watched the previous few titles so I thought it might be more or less the same kind of vibe but I was wrong.

In this film, we were shown Gill Valentine, Westor, Chris & Claire Redfield and Leon. (Ada appeared at the very end of the film for a few seconds.) I didn't play the games so I ain't sure how the actual characters are linked to each other in the game play. and seeing the creatures/monsters all over again, but something just feel missing.

The movie review:

The focus in the movie jumped from showing Claire Redfield's childhood at Racoon City and then back to the present and back and fro and also details on why the current Racoon City and a brief moment on why Claire Redfield was back in town.

One third of the screen time gone and the movie was still on giving details about Racoon City, the reason for the team of four who ventured into the now-abandoned mansion which led to the reason why Claire and Leon headed to the mansion.

The monsters were game-like real and the way the "scare" moment was delivered, was also game-like than movie-action/horror.

This could be one of the very few movie where most of the main cast survived till end of movie. And even had the dead resurrected.

At the end of the movie, seemed like there might be a sequel to this... But I very much prefer Alice  adaption although she was created solely for the movie.
