Review
Just finished watching the film and it's good. Really it's just nice. The length and pace. If it had been a drama, I could foresee that it will too draggy(which I really hated to see).

Moral of the story
Some things should be said instead of hidden.

Human are unpredicable

Weather : HAZY! The haze is back.. yesterday, the haze was clearly obvious and I am just so glad that my health has not been affected by it.

Good news? Bad news?
BUT my mood has been affected.. but definitely not by the haze. Just got a news which I am unsure whether is that a good news or a bad news. My friend, who recently suffered a heartache and trying to recover from a relationship of four years, was totally upset over this piece of news.

Although unknown of the reliability of the news and whether is this a deliberate lie to keep my friend from harassing the partner, I just hope that my friend could just be not bothered by it. It's been 2 months since the other party called it quits and it was totally hard time for my friend to recover.

If things work out right, this piece of news could help to bring everything to a concluding episode and everything will be back to normal (minus the partner)

If it doesn't... Let me just pray hard only the above will happen

Mobile / Hand Phones without camera in Singapore

It is SO~~~ difficult to find mobile phone without camera but yet with features that a normal mobile phone have.

Initially spotted M600i by Sony Ericsson but after going to Sim Lim Square, Jurong East, Clementi, Suntec, etc, I found none of them carries this model. Apparently, this model is no longer in production and thus, the next available model was w950i. And it was yet another difficult to find phone.

Although there are at least 2 more shops in Singapore carrying this model, but they are selling export sets, which means no warranty.

Trying hard to find other models which fit the bill, I searched high and low and finally landed on a list of mobile phone without camera.

1. BlackBerry 8707g
2. Nokia E61

Synopsis and My Review
A writer moves to a remote island with his daughter and young son. After settling into their new home, a neighbor arrives to welcome them and give them a breakdown of the local rules; most important: do not go outside when the island's siren starts wailing. (Source)

For those who have yet to watch the movie and is intending to, please do not read on. Having watched Abe Hiroshi in Trick, I thought I could see more of him in this movie but I was totally wrong! Although his name appears to be one of the leads, but it's the character that he portray plays a bigger part in the movie. At the beginning of the movie, you can see Abe already going crazy (insane to be exact) and I had thought that it going to be a recap but again, I was wrong. Without giving a outcome of what happen to Abe, we were brought to the scene showing Yui and her family leaving Tokyo for a more secluded place, the island where Abe was at when he gone insane. Anyway, at the moment that I saw her brother, I already started to think that the brother was not the one who is sick and I was right!

Summary of the show is:
a father brought her daughter to an island to help her recover from an incident but instead, the girl became hysterical after she started to believe the myth circulating by the folk living on the island is true.

Pineapple Tarts

In celebration of Chinese New Year and my previous experience with making pineapple tarts, I decided to make the pineapple tarts for this year (2008) CNY (alone). The last time I did the tarts it's like one year ago. I had totally forgotten the recipe and so I went to try the one posted online which works well for me(after recalculating the portion to fit my present ingredient quantity.)

I make it into the shape of a peach as the pineapple become burnt/harden when I try to make it like those traditional tarts that you see. I learned from my friend the alternate way and hope you can understand the instruction.

Do note that you should always know your oven well as different oven may produced different results.

Ingredients250g butter
402g plain flour
1 tsp baking powder (Optional, in my case, I did not have it so I did not add any in)
1/2 tsp salt
50g icing sugar (Can be lesser than 50, around 48g/49g)
2 eggs (separate egg yolk with egg white into two different bowls)
A pack of pineapple preserve (A pack from your provision shop will be more than enough)

Methods
1. Sift all dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt and icing sugar into a big bowl)

2. Add butter with the dry ingredient and rub in till breadcrumb-like.
Note: Cut the butter using a platter knife into cubes and stir with the dry ingredients until it becomes easier to rub in the flour with butter with your fingertips.
3. Add in the eggs yolks and knead to become a dough.

4. Leave in fridge for 20mins (or less than 40 mins else the dough will harden and you will not be able to roll out the dough)

5. Take 1/2 pack of the pineapple preserve (which I believe is still more than enough) and make them into small balls shaped(size depends on your need, the bigger the ball, the more dough will be used to make 1 pineapple tarts. That would also mean a lesser quantity produced.)

6. After removing the dough from fridge, roll out dough on a rolling board and fold the dough for a few times.

7a. Roll out the dough into 1/2cm thick and you use the template shape cutter to make the tart shape and place the pineapple at the center.

OR

7bi. From the dough, take a small portion and roll into a ball shape. Then press it down for a flatten round shaped dough and place the pineapple ball in the center.

7bii."Wrap" the pineapple with the round shaped dough until it has covered the entire pineapple.

7biii. Roll it into a fine ball shape and then at the bottom of the ball shaped dough, use ur fingertip to press it to become a V-like shaped, and at the top of the ball shaped dough, lightly cut a line at the top center to form a Peach-like shaped pineapple tart.

8. Use the egg white and glaze ONLY the dough part and not the pineapple and bake for 15 ~20 mins @170 Celsius

Kowai Onna コワイ女 (2006)

Also known as
Scary Woman
Fearful Woma
n
Unholy Women

Summary

An anthology of three horror short movies including:

Kata-kata (Rattle Rattle)
Director: Amemiya Keita

One day, Kanako hears a rattling sound in front of a building while walking home. The moment she looks up, something hits her hard. She loses consciousness for a while. When she wakes up and finds that she's unhurt, she then continues her way home. As soon as she arrives, she starts seeing a deformed woman who begins to haunt her.

Cast
Nakakoshi Noriko - Yoshizawa Kanako
Toyohara Kousuke - Tasaki Akira
Kobayashi Yuuko - Katakata

My review
Although the storyline is not new, but the re
ason why the lady was targeted is unclear. Did she had provoked the unknown by chance? However, the effect of the film was good, at least I did not get to see another Sadako-lookalike or Ju-on wannabe type.

Hagane (Steel)
Director: Suzuki Takuji

Sekiguchi is a young car mechanic leading an unexciting life. That all changes when one day his boss asks him to take his attractive sister on a drive. To Sekiguchi‘s surprise, his hot date is covered from head to waist by a sack.

Cast
Emoto Tasuku - Sekiguchi Mikio
Kagawa Teruyuki - Takahashi Tetsu
Nahana - Takahashi Hagane

My Review
Personally, if I were him, I think most probably I would not even dare to go out with the girl. Although have to give in to his boss (the girl's brother), but after the first date, seeing the person in such an outfit, and not a word throughout their "date" + the things she did = weird, I would never asked her out again unless you are trying to say the weird appeals. Back to the filming and casting, the actors are not bad and so is the legs of the girl. But the entire film I think I only see less than 10 people in the film, but I think it's easier that way since it would be difficult not to have people staring at the girl with her "nice" outfit.

Uketsugu mono (Successor)
