Tomie Collection

I browsing through a category of mystery/horror movies when I saw this particular Tomie collection. Hope to find more information regrading the released date of this movie as it does look like quite old, although the 6th and 7th movies are dated 2005. Now watching the first movie and so far, it looks enjoyable.

Tomie (1999)

It started off with a guy finding a paper bag containing a woman's head, (which I assumed belongs to Tomie) since the eye opened when shown.

Then, we are brought to the beginning of the movie storyline, showing a repeating process of a lady who lost her memory three years ago during a car accident trying to recover her memory as she is consistently plagued with nightmares which she believed is linked to her accident. Through her consultation session, she provides portion of the accident, bringing in the name of "Tanabe" and "Tomie".

Cast of the movie
Miho Kanno as Tomie Kawakami
Mami Nakamura as Tsukiko Izumisawa
Yoriko Douguchi as Dr. Hosono
Tomorowo Taguchi as Detective Harada
Kouta Kusano as Yuuichi Saiga
Kae Minami
Kenji Mizuhashi as Yamamoto
Rumi as Kaori
Ikko Suzuki (as Ikkô Suzuki)

Renai Shashin - Ai Otsuka

Renai Shashin - Ai Otsuka

Under the green night sky
You saw the back of love

Sometimes you show your innocent sleeping face
And I saw your dear appearance

No matter what
I can’t forget everything
In dreams, the shutter of my heart turns off
In painful bliss

However, I still love you
However, I still love you
However, I still love you
However I’m glad even if that’s all it is

The kiss we exchanged when it was raining
Ties the both of us together

This feeling will not last my entire life
I can’t explain it well, but
After meeting with you, every day of my life
Has shone brightly

However, I still love you
However, I still love you
However, I still love you
You gave me happiness

However, I still love you
However, I still love you
However, I still love you
However I’m glad even if that’s all it is

Decorating this tiny room
Are 2 smiling faces—a photo of love

Mop Girl モップガール

Synopsis/Review

Tanihara Shosuke, the male lead of the dorama, who has acted in many doramas (such as Oku ~ Hana no Ran~ 大奥~華の乱~) and movies, plays the role of Ohtomo Shotaro, who is always dragged by Momoko in her bid to help people who are about to face their last hour.

Although Kitagawa Keiko is quite young, but I really like her acting and the way she portray her roles. In this dorama, she has definitely improved her acting as compared to the role she took for Sailor Moon Live Action, where she played Sailor Mars. The story plot although is not as mysterious as detective drama, but the different themes in each episodes carries the whole show well.

This drama has it that when Hasegawa Momoko was 8(?) years old, she was given the ability to go back in time to relive what happen in a day. This ability was passed to her by a mysterious lady who saved her from a car accident, by sacrificing her own. Fast forward to Momoko (Keiko Kitagawa) , 21 years old. At the start of the show, she was working in a grand hotel where she messed things up during a wedding (she actually accidentally destroyed the wedding cake, baked by the bride herself, just seconds before the cake have to be presented to the guest). As a punishment, she ended up at a sub-company of the hotel's organization called Little Angel.

Being forced to sign a 3 month no resignation contract, Momoko had thought of Little Angel as a wedding organizer company(which she was totally wrong!) Little Angel is a cleaning company, but for the dead. This is also how she started to get use her hidden/given ability whenever she get in touch with the dead person item.

Quote of the show

Although there are many quotes in the show by/for otomo-san, I think the most deserving quote of the show would be the part where the scene of Momoko being rescued by the mystery lady and her passing her power to young Momoko.

"Now I give you my power. Be brave and create your future."

Shiratori Reiko De Gozaimasu (I) 白鳥麗子でございます!(I)

Released on: 14th Jan 1993 (Fuji Tv Broadcast)
Total Episodes: 5

Matsuyuki Yasuko is casted as Shiratori Reiko, the female lead of this drama. Shiratori Reiko is a rich girl who was initially a shy and humble girl until she met Tetsuya (acted by Hagiwara Masato), whom she had fallen in love with at first sight when she was young.

This love for Tetsuya changed Reiko into an arrogant and proud person and because of this attitude, she failed to express herself properly to him when he express his love for her. Thus, when both of them finally went separate ways (for education), Reiko then realised her actual feeling and decided to find Tetsuya and express herself properly.. And this is where the drama begins..

This is one of my very first Japanese drama I started with and it makes me interested in watching Japanese drama till now. Initially, her laughter did not went well with my ears but after watching more, I really like the way Reiko tries to make thing work with so many "coincidences" meeting. However, it's always her pride that is causing her not to go forward..
